Free Yin Yoga Teacher Training

Free Yin yoga teacher training, underlying all the fundamental practice principles.

We can think of active yoga styles, such as Ashtanga, Iyengar, Hatha & Vinyasa, as “yang” yoga as their primary focus is on your muscles. In contrast, Yin yoga targets your deeper connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments & joints. We hold each yoga asana for extended periods to maximize a deep stretch & for the body to completely surrender to relaxation. The Yin yoga practice encourages mindful breathing, listening to your body & observing the mind, returning to a sense of wholeness.

  • In Yin yoga, we can use many variations/props within the chosen shape to relax within the target area. Within this stillness, we can then become receptive & reflective of what’s happening within & around the body. We can become more aware of our body’s innate intelligence & learn to listen. Learning to really ‘hear’ the ‘Self’ sounds easy, but Yin yoga can be challenging in many ways & for different reasons. But also such an enriching practice.

  • Ever wondered why we include a rebound within the Yin yoga practice? There are many physical, mental, and energetic benefits to placing a rebound within your Yin yoga practice. The rebound provides a space to feel the effects of the previous pose. We can also creatively incorporate it within our Yin sequencing.

A misconception is to think Yin yoga is easy. That seems to stem from a notion that Yin Yoga is a form of restorative yoga. Although it would undoubtedly come closest to Restorative yoga on the yoga styles scale, there are some essential differences in the practice.

  • Yin yoga is a “Bitter-Sweet” practice that is both meditative & nourishing yet brings its own physical & mental challenges. There are four fundamental bitter-sweet stages we can experience during this beautiful style.

Free Yin Yoga Sequences & Meditations

Enjoy some free Yin yoga classes with me on Youtube.

We hold each yoga asanas for extended periods in Yin yoga to maximize a deep stretch into the fascia-focused areas. As we hold the pose, we can become more receptive & reflective to what’s happening within & around the body, in addition to noticing our reactions & responses to the stillness. Variations/props are offered to help you relax within the target area.

The practice encourages mindful, conscious breathing, listening to your body & observing the mind, returning you to a sense of wholeness.

Rebounds: Sometimes we do several shapes before a rebound, sometimes a rebound after every pose, sometimes long holds/rebounds & sometimes shorter holds/rebounds. Every class is slightly different, so you gain creativity within your practice.

Yin Yoga Flow – A flow of Yin yoga shapes & rebounds, includes one/three short Downward Dog Yang poses

FREE YIN YOGA SEQUENCES

In Chinese medicine, Qi/Ki/Prana/energy moves through a network of energy pathways called ‘meridians’ that interconnect with corresponding organs, tissues & cells.

There are twelve main meridians seen as the main points of energy storage & distribution. Within Traditional Chinese Medicine, an organ’s Qi/energy moves through that organ’s meridian & there is an inter-connectivity of our emotions & physical health where our emotions can impact the health of the body & vice versa. The twelve significant meridians consist of five Yin meridians: Heart, Spleen, Lungs, Kidneys, & Liver & five Yang meridians: the Small intestines, Stomach, Large intestine, Urinary bladder, Gallbladder; the Pericardium meridian, & the Triple Warmer, also known as the San Jiao meridian.

Each class sequence offers a specific or combinational meridian focus.

FREE YIN YOGA SEQUENCE

These are free yin yoga sequences that target the shoulders, chest, arms & spine. They will encourage blood & energy flow through these areas that tend to get constricted by how we physically carry ourselves & hold onto our mental/emotional ‘baggage.’ Promoting the opening of the upper body to create space at the heart center & restore a sense of peace where there may be anxiety. Six meridians begin or end in the fingers of the hands. They all pass through the shoulder, or armpit & six upper body meridians are the Heart, Small Intestine, Large Intestine, Lung, Pericardium, & Triple Warmer/San Jiao.

FREE YIN YOGA SEQUENCE FOR HIPS AND HAMSTRINGS

These are free Yin yoga sequences that focus on the lower body. The hips are an area that can often hold a lot of unconscious tension, old emotions & deep vulnerabilities, which can lead to a shortening of the tissues, pain, tightness, lack of mobility & tension.
With deep reflective stretches, these sequences will release lower back pain, hip, pelvis, groin & leg stiffness & reduce muscle soreness & discomfort.
The six meridians that begin or end in the lower body are the Liver, Gall Bladder, Kidney, Urinary Bladder, Spleen, & Stomach meridians.

FREE YIN YOGA AND MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

These are free yin yoga sequences that include myofascial release techniques. There are many benefits to working with myofascial release techniques. These include reducing pain, releasing knots/trigger points, improving movement & flexibility, improving muscle function, enhancing circulation by breaking up the tight areas where blood flow may become restricted, & reducing exercise-related soreness.

free yin yoga for stress anxiety

Yin Yoga Therapy sequences are structured to create space for specific misalignments you may be experiencing within both body/mind. The class sequences will rejuvenate the body, clear the mind, open up the heart, & allow energetic healing to take place.

These classes are suitable for all levels of experience & ability.

Variations are given to suit all skeletal structures. Always listen to your body.
